«Systematic physical exercise and sports make children healthier and happier»
Maria Garbi has had sports in her life from a young age and later studied at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science. She actively participates in pioneering seminars and specialized pedagogical programs, as well as research groups at European universities, aiming to introduce sports at a preschool age. Through her involvement and passion for sports, the idea and vision to create Mini Tennis in the 1990s was born—an innovative program for European standards, introducing toddlers and children to sports.
By placing special emphasis on the development of motor skills and the athletic ideal, the program differentiates itself from conventional sports programs, creating and developing the Mini Sports program—a cyclic program of alternating sports that has achieved great success. With its inclusion in the annual training program “Special Education and Training” (2012-2013) at the Developmental Pediatrics Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, the program brings sports closer to children with special needs. Today, it has evolved further and shows impressive results for children on the autism spectrum.
Maria Garbi has participated as a speaker in numerous seminars and conferences throughout Greece and abroad. In 2020, she was awarded by the Panhellenic Federation of Private Kindergartens for her contribution to the qualitative upgrade of child education.
